EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio - For the third consecutive year, Earth Preservers, the...
Safety, compliance, relationships and profit are the values we hold in highest regard. And, that safety is first is no accident!
Since we opened our gates in 1992, we have tested, stored, moved, mixed, fed, pumped and dumped more that a million tons of hazardous and nonhazardous industrial wastes. Through training and carefully crafted operating procedures, we ensure that our processes are performed in compliance with all regulations and industry standards for worker safeguards and environmental protections.
Working to meet the minimum standard is not our way. We are industry leaders when it comes to customer satisfaction, environmental risk assessment, clean-air standards and stringent operating standards. Our systems for environmental management, service, and occupational health and safety conform to ISO 14001:2004, ISO 9001:2008 and OHSAS 18001:2007, respectively. Here are other notable planks that make up our safety platform:
Target ZERO – Through training, teamwork and communication, our employees are challenged to perform each job without injury, accident and release to the environment. Since this behavior-based program was introduced in 2005, our Total Case Incident Rate, or TCIR, has been cut in half from four to two.
Safety Observations – When an accident happens, familiarity and complacency are frequently indentified as contributors to the cause of the incident. Under this program, employees are empowered to inspect areas of the facility where they do not typically work and record their observations with respect to safety. Their observations are compiled for review and, if necessary, any corrective actions by our Environment, Health & Safety Department personnel.
OSHA VPP – In 2007, we began working toward OSHA VPP recognition. Our goal is to reach the program’s STAR status, the highest of three levels of recognition. Through this program, we are demonstrating our commitment to workplace safety and health and that goes beyond OSHA requirements.
OHSAS 18001:2007 – As we already mentioned on this page, we are unique in the industry for holding third-party registrations to international standards for environmental management, service, and, in particular, health and safety in the workplace. OHSAS, for Occupational, Health and Safety Assessment Series, was developed by international health and safety groups in response to ever growing demand for a standard against which an organization’s system for health and safety can be assessed. Following a comprehensive audit of our system by an independent reviewer, we were registered to the OHSAS 18001:2007 standard in August 2009.
These and other voluntary initiatives help to demonstrate our commitment to safety. But don’t take our word for it. We invite you to visit us to see for yourself. Contact us today to schedule a tour of facility. We look forward to seeing you.
